The leading cause of death for women is heart disease. More women will die of heart disease than all cancers combined. The risk that a women will die of heart disease is one in 2.5 while the risk that a women will die of breast cancer is one in thirty!
For this reason the American Heart Association is conducting the Go Red for Women campaign. This campaign is an effort to draw attention to heart disease in women and the unique way that the disease presents and impacts women.
Spectrum Health is also conducting it's own program of cardiovascular disease awareness for women.
